Serwis ma ogromny potencjał wypromowania oryginalnych postaci i przedsięwzięć.
YouTube zaczynało jako strona, której treścią były filmy przedstawiające kota autora. Obecnie YouTube jest największym serwisem udostępniającym tego typu usługi, a właściciele utworzyli spółkę (YouTube, Inc.).
Według Google, dziennie na YouTube umieszczanych jest ponad 70 tys. filmów, zajmujących ok. 1400 GB = 1,4 TB.

| Great video! I remeber Conrail in toledo ohio sittin on the "beam bridge" An old bridge from the steam train days they tore down now. We would walk out onto the beams (which were narrow) and sit on the metal parts that kept the smoke off the upper deck and be like 1 foot away from the engines as they passed under! talk about being litteraly right ontop of the train. It was dangerous, but worth getting chased off by the RR cops! We never did anything wrong but it was just great sitting there | armyof11 |
