The Rathole Combo DVD!

The Rathole (DVD) High bridges, deep cuts, tunnels, and grades - that's railroading through the Rathole! Stretching between Danville, Kentucky and Oakdale, Tennessee, the Rathole is named for the twenty-three tunnels that once embellished the line. Today the rebuilt route is a marvel of modern railroad construction, and is a vital link in Norfolk Southern's system connecting the Midwest and the South. Pentrex takes you through the Rathole in October, when beautiful fall foliage and clear blue skies dominate the scene. Norfolk Southern's glossy black diesels put on amazing shows as they pull heavy tonnage across the Second District of the CNO&TP. Up to forty trains utilize the track each day. Scenic highlights of our tour include Kings Mountain, Burnside Bridge, and the famous high bridge cross the New River. Informative narration identifies all the trains by number, and gives you the detailed story of this fascinating line. For nonstop action, big time railroading at its finest, and exquisite photography, you're certain to enjoy The Rathole! *** Through the Rathole Cab Ride (DVD) Ride at the head of Norfolk Southern's unique new trailer train, the Triple Crown #252, as it travels the rugged and scenic line called The Rathole. You'll be in the cab of GP60 #7149 to experience the 138-mile line from the crew's perspective. As the train makes its way north from Emory Gap, Tennessee to Danville, Kentucky, you'll see such famous locations as the tunnels at Nemo, the high bridges across the New and Cumberland Rivers, and the deep cuts that gave the Rathole its name. The high priority Triple Crown passes 15 other trains during our ride. Some are waiting "in the hole," while others are met at full track speeds along the mainline. When our train starts back up after stopping to allow a hot piggyback train to pass, tension fills the cab. The engineer struggles to get the train up the grade as the single engine slips its wheels and nearly stalls. Exciting scenes of mainline railroading are captured here for you to enjoy. Join Pentrex in a thrilling cab ride Through the Rathole!

The roadrailers trailers are basically semi trailers propped up on top of railroad car trucks(wheels). I've seen a video somewhere of how they get them up and down, via hydraulics,if I'm not mistaken. But it's very easy to go from train to truck when they reach their destination.SimRacin14
The cab ride part was amazing. BTW, what's with those semi-trailers... how does that work?VideoDotGoogleDotCom
