Railfanning the BNSF La Junta Subdivision 11-18-07

I was sitting at home listening to the scanner, and heard a train was departing Newton at 2:45PM, so I went out around 3:30PM, and sat for about half an hour, then heard it would be 30 more minutes before it got here, so I went to the Amtrak Station, and caught it there. The train was a westbound manifest led by BNSF C44-9W #985, and NS SD70 #2545. One of the best conductors around also waves right before the train passes, so thanks for the wave. Amen brother. Like I posted in another comment, the whistle is our only weapon against retards.UPTRAIN
NS uses a totally different rulebook from the BNSF, that's why the terminology is a little different.UPTRAIN
And? The original point withstands. If they hit somebody, the railroad looses the ensuing court case if they weren't blowing enough, and the crew possibly gets fired. We have our employment to protect, as well as people's lives. The locomotive horn is our only defense against morons.UPTRAIN
Sounds more like a K3 to me.UPTRAIN
you are a communist shut the fuck up and go to cuba!!bigluke93
YO, chill out.kmothersil
nice Prime 990 hornsp9813
Great video. I always see those Epic containers sitting in the yard here at Dodge City. I wonder if they don't fill them with stuff from the packing plants out here. I'm building a N-Scale layout loosely based on the line from Dodge to Kinsley.coneal81
I'll try to care. About as much when we're blowing the horndhodgee
don't cuss at me please. i was just agreeing with another poster on here that the horn is blowing too much and a sound nuisance to the community. the other poster said "He really was laying on that horn. "eccentriceric
eccentriceric, you don't know what the fuck you're talking about. We don't want to listen to the horn anymore then you do. It just one more rule we have to fallow.dhodgee
but the horn is practically continuous!!! thats' crazy!!!eccentriceric
Lay off man! That's their job. If they hadn't been blowing the horn and had hit a car and killed someone you would be saying that they should have been blowing the horn more. It's the rules and the law that they have to. And I have heard far worse.mafarnz
Ya thanks for that wave, I would really think about having Mr. Durand to take a good long look at the track through town, like from CP 2190 to CP 2165, its a mess, anyway hope to see you again soon.Treyvs
cool video... that was me waving at u. With the new FRA Whistle rules some engineers just really lay on the horn but its not a bad thing. Ya it maybe loud and anoying butt... its are job, and thats what the rules say. And about the track work. The lajunta sub isn't the high money maker like are double track transcon. We do alot of grain trains and they just beat up the tracks. All the track money goes to the transcon.elevatornut
damn you can hear it after the engines pass by off in the distance. Somebody ought to beat the crap out of that engineer for that bull!!! i think that guy must have been on the emporia sub before because that horn blaring sounds familiar . i don't know the last time i heard it that bad. that's terrible.eccentriceric
Nice!! Our Track Warrants are kinda like yours, but The Piedmont Division calls them Track Authorities. Nice on that NS SD70 in the rear. Like I say, BNSF really should get their butts going and replace track ties, rail and order a Ballast Train.NSNCRailfan
Yes, I am from the Chicago areaBoxcarFrank
And the electronics as well for the crossingsTreyvs
Yeah, the BNSF track through town really sucksTreyvs
