MSTS Railfanning: FBL AC44's at Desert Springs on RSD Line
On the way home from work, I got extremely lucky today. I hardly ever see Full Bucket Line equipment operating on the Rattlesnake Railway, but there he was, a FBL Intermodal train with two FBL AC44's leading. I always have hated this grade crossing though. They really need to put gates here. Trains go around 40 mph through here and they are no gates, only cantilevers. That's just asked for a big car-train accident. Anyways the engineer gave me some great horn action on the beautifully tuned K5LA. I hope to take some more videos soon.

Find the loco folder in your Microsoft Train Sim folder. It should be C:/Program Files/Microsoft Games/Microsoft Train Simulator/TRAINSET
Then replace the horn sounds with the sounds you like. You might have to rename the sounds. You want the new sounds to replace the old sounds. Let me know if you need more help. message me.
This is the freeware RattleSnake Desert route. I modified some of the parts of it myself, including this grade crossing. The grade crossing shapes and coding was done by Jovet.
LOL jovet you are amazing. I am hoping to make an un-offical mod the SLI's scenic sub, adding Edmonds, WA to the route (which is in my railfanning videos I posted up today.
Thanks for the comment Jovet. Thanks so much for making these outstanding crossing signals. I agree that the Aussie video is bad. It is because I get around 3 FPS with Fraps, so I must use my digital camera to take the videos. Also, Youtube robs it of a lot of quality, as you probably know about. Anyways Jovet, thanks for the comment and for making these signals. I love them :)
Video looks pretty good! The "handheld" effect really works here. The Australian crossing video...it doesn't...everything looks so oddly flat. It's hard to get good results with fraps w/o superb hardware, though, so you're not alone.
Thanks pdfsmail! This is a horn from the TERW forums. He sure makes some SWEET sound packs there. You should check it out. I'm actually going to add some MSTS light rail videos from the Downtown Trolley Route soon. Stay tuned.
Yes, Brian. It really does. I have kind of old hardware. Right now I am going through the CSX M&M Sub for MSTS and replacing every single crossing signal with Jovet's signals! The route is over 100 miles long, so it's taking a little while lol. I've already replaced most of the signals on Conrail indy 2.0, where they are like 500 county road crossings in the middle of nowhere LOL. I completely replaced the crossings on FBL: Commuter Edition too. I'll have to put some vids up of that stuff.
I can't get more than 3 frames per second with FRAPS, so I gave up and hold my camera near the computer LOL. That works for me. Without fraps running I get 25-30 fps.
