NB UP manifest, Roy Green Rd., Hallsville, TX, 1-13-07, 1509
So, my Grandma and I had come down south from Jefferson on U.S. Highway 59 to Marshall, TX, where we then checked for any activity taking place on the west side of town. As I had figured we wouldn't, we didn't see anything (The same UP line that runs through Jefferson runs through Marshall as well) - track work up in Jefferson was tying the works up. So we headed on west on U.S. Highway 80 to Hallsville, and once again saw nothing as we were coming into Hallsville; on the other side of Hallsville, though, we did see two trains sitting in the really long siding between Hallsville and Longview. So we continued on past Hallsville on towards Longview. Then we got down to where the Trinity Rail Plant was just outside of Longview, and that's when the magic suddenly began: Boxcars were moving in the distance down by the plant, and they were heading east towards us! We immediately turned around and headed back east towards Hallsville, and ended up here at Roy Creek Rd.
A Union Pacific SD70M was at the lead of this manifest train through the Roy Green Rd. grade crossing at MP 82.45 on the UP Little Rock Sub. just west of Hallsville, TX at 3:09 PM on January 13, 2007. It was just the beginning of what was going to be an active remainder of the day. After the train passed, we chased it down further east to the Muntz Cutoff Rd. grade crossing out by the Hallsville recycling center:

As you can hear in the video, the bells are starting to die out, which is really ashame. U.S. Highway 80 is in the background. Marshall is about 15 miles to the east from here, and Longview is about 8 miles away to the west.
